Looking for a Ferris Mower Dealer Near Hattiesburg? Here's What to Know Before You Drive Up

Hattiesburg customers ask the same questions before they make the drive to Collins. Here's the honest answer on models, wait times, and what to expect.

Looking for a Ferris Mower Dealer Near Hattiesburg? Here's What to Know Before You Drive Up

We get calls from Hattiesburg, Petal, Oak Grove, and Purvis every week. Same three questions come up before anyone makes the 45-minute drive up Highway 49. So I figured it was worth putting the answers in one place — save people a phone call if they're just trying to figure out whether it's worth the trip.

Question 1: "Are you actually an authorized Ferris dealer, or just reselling?"

Yes — authorized Ferris dealer. That means we stock the lineup, we have the training to service and warranty the machines, and we have direct parts channels back to Ferris. It matters because a non-authorized seller can't honor warranty work. Buy a commercial mower from the wrong outlet, and when something breaks in year two, you're suddenly shipping a $12,000 machine across the country or paying out of pocket.

The authorized piece also means we have the current model year in stock — not whatever was left over from two seasons ago.

Question 2: "What's the drive like from Hattiesburg?"

45 minutes straight up Highway 49. No twisting back roads, no traffic to speak of once you're past Forrest General. You drive through Seminary and land in Collins. We're on the right side of 49 as you come into town — same address as Dykes Motors, our used truck lot.

Most Hattiesburg customers who make the drive tell us the same thing: easier than finding parking at some of the bigger Hattiesburg equipment stores, and they got actual attention when they got here. We're not running a volume floor.

Question 3: "Which Ferris Should I Actually Look At?"

This is the one that matters. Short answer — depends on what you're mowing.

Home property, 2–5 acres: The Ferris 500S hits the sweet spot. Enough power for Mississippi grass, a deck size (52" or 61") that finishes in reasonable time, and it's priced so the monthly payment isn't crazy. We sell more of these to homeowners than anything else.

Home property, 5–15 acres, or rough terrain: Step up to the ISX2200. Ferris invented the independent suspension mower, and this is the full system. If you're on hills, uneven ground, or anything with washouts — the suspension takes the beating out of mowing. Your back will thank you.

Commercial landscape crew: Depends on your route. City-lot crews in Hattiesburg mostly run stand-ons — smaller footprint, fit on a trailer with a zero-turn, and they're faster getting on and off between yards. Larger-property crews run the bigger zero-turns — IS700Z or ISX2200.

Farm or pasture mowing: We wrote a separate piece on zero turns for Mississippi farms — the short version is you want something with fabricated deck construction and 25+ HP. The 500S is fine for fence lines and smaller pastures. The ISX2200 or IS700Z for anything serious.

What We're Not Going to Do

We're not going to oversell you. If you tell us you're mowing three acres of flat yard and you're not doing it for a living, we're not going to push you to a $14,000 machine. Ferris makes a range for a reason. The right answer for most homeowners is the 500S, not the top of the line.

And we're not going to tell you the mower will last forever without maintenance. Commercial mowers need oil changes, blade sharpening, air filter changes, belt inspections. That's part of owning one. What you don't want is a residential mower that lasts 200 hours before something expensive fails. Commercial Ferris machines go 2,000+ hours with basic care.

Parts and Service After You Buy

Our service shop handles warranty, tune-ups, and repairs in-house. Most repairs turn around in days — not the two-week shipping-it-back-to-manufacturer situation you sometimes get buying through a non-authorized seller. Parts phone: (601) 336-2541.

Hattiesburg customers especially: if you're running commercial and can't be down for weeks, that's the part worth driving up for.

One Last Thing — Financing

We work with top national lenders on mower financing. Quick decisions, competitive rates — as low as 4.9% APR for qualified credit. Most commercial Ferris payments land under $300/month. Apply online before you drive up if you want to walk out with the mower that day.
