Ferris Mower Dealer Near Laurel? Here's What Jones County Customers Ask Before They Drive Up
Laurel's only about 20 minutes from us — straight shot up Hwy 49 — but the calls we get from Jones County usually have the same few questions attached. Figured it'd save everyone time if I just put the answers down here.
Question 1: "Are you actually an authorized Ferris dealer?"
Yes — authorized Ferris dealer. Stocked, trained to service, and warranty channels go straight back to Ferris. That matters more than people realize. A commercial zero-turn is a $10K–$16K machine — if something fails in year two and you bought it from a non-authorized outlet, you're either shipping the mower out of state or eating the repair out of pocket.
Being authorized also means we've got the current model year in stock — not last season's leftovers that got picked over.
Question 2: "What's the drive like from Laurel?"
20 minutes north on Hwy 49. Straight road. You go through Ellisville, Sanford, and roll right into Collins. We're on the right side of 49 as you come into town — same building as Dykes Motors, our used truck lot at 3069 Hwy 49.
A lot of Jones County folks drive right past closer equipment stores to get up here, and when I ask why, the answer's always the same: they got tired of the big-box counter where nobody could tell them the difference between a residential rider and a commercial zero-turn. We're small enough that whoever picks up the phone actually knows the machines.
Question 3: "Which Ferris Should I Buy?"
Jones County has a lot of rolling ground, fence lines, pastures, and long driveways. Here's the short version of how we steer people:
Home property, 3–8 acres: The Ferris 500S is the workhorse. 52" or 61" deck, enough power for Bermuda or fescue in July heat, priced where the monthly payment doesn't sting. This is the mower we sell most to Laurel-area homeowners.
Home property, 10+ acres, rough ground, or hills: Step up to the ISX2200. Ferris pioneered the independent suspension zero-turn, and the full system on the ISX2200 makes a real difference if you're on uneven ground. After a four-hour mow your back actually knows the difference.
Commercial landscape crew: Most Laurel and Ellisville crews we see are running a mix — stand-ons for tight residential lots (smaller trailer footprint, faster on and off between yards), and a zero-turn for the bigger properties. We'll help you work out what fits your route.
Farm, pasture, cattle operation: We've got a lot of customers in Jones and Covington running these on working farms. Check out our post on zero-turns for Mississippi farms — short version: fabricated deck, 25+ HP, and the ISX2200 or IS700Z if you want it to last.
What We Won't Do
We won't oversell you. If you've got three acres of flat yard and you're not mowing for a living, the 500S is the right answer — not a $14K commercial unit. Ferris makes a full lineup for a reason, and pushing you to the top of it just because we can doesn't help anyone.
And we won't tell you a commercial mower runs itself. These machines need oil changes, blade sharpening, belt checks, air filter swaps. That's what owning one looks like. The flip side is a commercial Ferris will run 2,000+ hours with basic care — where a residential rider will be hunting for parts at 300.
Parts and Service After the Sale
Our service shop is on-site. Warranty work, tune-ups, hydro service, engine diagnostics — all in-house. Most repairs turn around in days, not weeks. When you can't be down in the middle of a mowing season, that's the piece worth the 20-minute drive. Parts phone: (601) 336-2541.
Financing
We work with top national lenders on the Ferris lineup. Competitive rates — as low as 4.9% APR for qualified credit — quick decisions, apply online before you drive up. Most commercial Ferris payments land under $300/month. We'll tell you straight what's realistic for the mower you're looking at.
If you're in Laurel, Ellisville, Sandersville, or anywhere around Jones County and shopping Ferris, come see us. 3069 Hwy 49 in Collins, about 20 minutes up the road. Or call (601) 641-5475 and we'll answer anything I didn't cover here.
